Additional parts/information.

  • If choosing to use patrol diff, same cost for each stage. Recommended GU patrol.
  • If choosing 10 inch coilovers, add $200 for stage 1 kit only. Stage 2 or 3 will increase by approx. $2,500. Recommend either FOX, KINGS or RADFLO 10 inch remote reservoir.
  • If choosing 12 inch coilovers, add $700 for stage 1 kit only. Recommend either KINGS or Radflo 12 inch remote reservoir.
  • ABS adaption kit is $500.
  • Sway bar mounts are $100.
  • Installation from Ironhide customs pty ltd is approx. $6,000.
  • Engineering for QLD only is approx. $700.

This kit has been engineered on many vehicles in all states. Always check with your local engineer before undergoing procedure. Usual engineering codes used are LS3, LS4 and LG2. High lift codes such as ls9 ls10 and lt2 etc will apply if vehicle is above 75mm total lift including tyres. (tyres max 50mm increase rolling diameter as per tyre placard)

We can also offer stage 3 kit as a standard type diff housing. (not flipped) This will require a drivers side transfer case modification from the earlier N60 model hilux.

Re-gear in rear diff to match new front diff will be required. Most common ratio for land cruisers and patrols are 4.11. Nitro gear does a 4.11 ratio to suit hilux which is readily available online. Another option is the prado 4.11 rear diff center which will bolt straight into the hilux rear diff housing.

You will also require -

  • Landcruiser 80/105 series steering box.
  • Custom drive shaft which is made up of your existing Hilux uni joint at your transfer case, and Landcruiser uni joint at the diff.
  • 2 braided brake lines approx. 650mm long to span from caliper to your brake line mounts.
  • Custom power steering lines. Can be made at any hydraulic hose company. Approx. $150.

If choosing stage 1 kit, you will also need the following –

  • VDJ 79 series 1, adjustable panhard. (superior engineering)
  • HZJ80 drag link, adjustable. (superior engineering)
  • EFS coils to suit VDJ79 series 1. Standard coils give approx. 2 inches lift. 30mm lift give approx. 3 inch lift. (if using coil with shock, not coilover)
  • Shock absorbers to suit VDJ79, 3 to 4 inch lift. (GU patrol shocks also work at 4 inch lift) (if using coil with shock, not coilover)
  • VDJ79 series 1 steering dampener with drag link mount.
  • HZJ80 series, complete front axle, with diff center. 92 – 98 model (all are 4.11 ratio) This front diff can either be used in factory orientation if using KZN transfer case swap. Or will need to be flipped to suit KUN transfer. This can be completed with all new mounts for approx. $1500 by Ironhide Customs.

Engineering and certification considerations as follows –

  • Turning circle can be completely adjusted and maintained to factory hilux specifications.
  • Factory power steering pump maintains 80 to 125 PSI required for landcruiser 80 series steering box.
  • Factory Hilux brake caliper specs. 4 pots @42mm diameter pistons. Rotors are 27mm thick, 290mm diameter.
  • Landcruiser 80 series caliper specs. 4 pots @45mm. With a 0.2 mm rotor deflection you can expect 0.16 ml increased fluid usage per pot equaling 1.28ml across all 8 pots. This amount of fluid is easily attainable in the Colorado/dmax 1’’ diameter brake master cylinder. Rotors are 32mm thick, 311mm diameter.
  • Factory ABS sensors maintained. Tone rings are 48 tooth to match factory count.
  • Front axle load for Hilux is 1300kg.  Landcruiser 80 series is rated to 1550kg to attain GVM increase of 10 percent when coupled with heavier duty rear suspension.
